A little history…
Les Vedettes de Paris was created in 1976 with a new approach to touristic discovery of the capital: quality and friendly cruises on traditional and comfortable boats. Event hosting has been added to these services. The Vedettes de Paris was purchased in 2006 by the Socatra group (French oil tanker shipping company) in alliance with one of the world’s largest ship broker companies, the BRS group. Vedettes de Paris has refined its image, selling a part of its fleet and constructing two quality twin boats: the Paris Iéna and the Paris Trocadéro. These boats, combining tradition and modernity, are perfect for a cruise along the Seine or for event hosting.
A new graphic charter with a new logo appears in line with its dynamic and innovative policy. The company simultaneously sets new operating standards to maximise transport safety, passenger comfort and respect for the environment.
In March 2008, the shareholders reaffirmed their interest in the Seine by buying the Compagnie des Bateaux à Roue (CBR). Founded in 1990, CBR was the first luxury cruise ship and event hosting company in Paris. Its fleet now consists of three boats that can accommodate up to 220 people. The general management of Vedettes de Paris has thus been entrusted to Frédéric Aviérinos, a renowned expert with a large amount of experience in the field of maritime and passenger transport.
At the end of 2008, the Vedettes de Paris inaugurated a new, completely renovated, panoramic reception hall: the Salon des Vedettes offers an exceptional setting and location with a breathtaking view of the Seine, the Trocadero and the Eiffel Tower. At the end of 2010, the Paris Etoile entered the Seine. The newly constructed boat was part of the plan to modernize the company and renew its fleet. This plan had been initiated by the commissioning of Paris Iéna and Paris Trocadéro. In 2014, the Socatra group became the sole shareholder of Vedettes de Paris.
In addition to its tourist and events activities, up until 2016 Vedettes de Paris spent 10 years operating four 100% electric river shuttles for Icade. Thes shuttles were dedicated to transporting the company’s personnel via the St Denis canal. In just 6 minutes travel, the shuttles moved between the metro station Corentin Cariou (line 7) near the Porte de la Villette to the Parc du Millénaire (Porte d’Aubervilliers). The shuttles were also available to customers in the neighbouring shopping centre. More than 1,000,000 passengers were transported each year.
A corporate citizen with an ambitious and concrete development policy
Vedettes de Paris is the first river transportation company on the Seine to have been ISO 14001 certified for its environmental commitments. Sustainable development is a constant concern of the company and its teams: reduction of electrical waste; sorting of waste; and a system of wastewater discharge n the sewer systems and not in the Seine.
